They have the rubber backing and it seems like all the rugs I've owned this backing crumbles after a few launderings.

Take them to the laundromat and wash them in a front loading machine. Never wash rubber-backed rugs in a top-loader. The agitator post is too rough and will basically beat the rubber backing off the rug. Line dry or tumble dry on low heat. This is how I've always washed my rugs and I've never had a problem.

Take them to the car wash and hang them in the floor mat clips, spray with high pressure washer.
