I saw that news report as well. Yes, the ones who did it should have to pay for the hours it took to remove it. That is defacing government property and is illegal. I don't think it should have anything to do with first amendment rights. Their mouths were doing a good enough job, they didn't need to do that. Jane Fonda also encouraged them to spit on a disabled marine who had returned from Iraq. That woman absolutely disgusts me.
Yeah, I think their looking for a vote as well, but condoning the defacing of government property isn't going to gain them any respect. When they told the officers to fall back, they were probably not wanting to create another incident like back during the Vietnam war when the peace movement made their mark.
Yeah, we got out of Nam by popular demand and looked stupid for it. Citizens have no place in politics. They only know 1/4 of the real issues and think everything the media reports is true. The inside secrets are just that...secret.

"He even ordered his officers not to arrest anyone! You know why??? The Capitol Chief of Police takes his orders directly from Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi"
That's conjecture.

It costs on standard $17,000 a year to pay for a baby to circulate to college in a public ecosystem. once you're paying better than that for the period of taxes a year, then definite circulate forward and *****. yet do no longer forget approximately to count extensive form police taxes, firemen taxes, highway taxes, etc. Your funds, while you're no longer a intense earner, does not rather matter extensive form for lots. except you're wealthy, provide up complaining. And illegals do pay taxes, no longer all of them yet some do.

IF this story is true, it is completely ridiculous. Of course they don't have the right to deface government (or private) property. They have the right to assemble, wave sings, sing Kumbayah, and chant lame chants. The organizations involved should be sent a bill for the clean-up services provided by the city.

The Chief should be fired.
I would make the protesters clean up their filth, in a way that they would probably not like.
The Capitol is not Bush. It is OUR COUNTRY. But those protestors don't hate America. No, not these fine citizens.

I heard on several media outlets that some of the war protesters stormed the capitol, spray painted the steps and then had their pictures taken with the graffiti.
This shows the mentality and maturity level of these protesters. How embarrassing for the anti-war movement.

As a Democrat, I am disgusted with fellow Democrats who behave like rebellious teenagers and feel justified in committing vandalism.
Don't lump all Democrats together as juvenile punks. Most of us are not that way, the same way that there are many different Republican individuals and their views.

You were misled. The Capitol Police reported that a very small group out of the protesters covertly managed to spray some graffiti, and that it wasn't that major.
The amount of tax dollars required for this cleanup probably amounts to somewhere between 1/10 and 1/100 of a cent per person.
You give me "thumbs downs" because you know you can't refute my point, so you just throw a mini-temper tantrum in front of your computer and click your mouse at me.
Take your mouse! Use it. Thumb me down with all of your hatred and your journey towards the dark side will be complete!
If you thumb me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.
