please help my wife and I settle a little disagreement. One of us believes that most people don't go away very often (more than 5 years) The other of us believes that people should go away at least once a year. How often do you go and please share your opinion if you wish....thanks

I have not been away for really long time but i feel that everyone should get a way every year... you need time to rest and just enjoy life

I'm a single mom of 2. I try to go away at least twice a year. Not major trips, just long weekend getaways (but not to visit family, we go stay in a hotel and do tourist things). For bigger vacations, maybe 1 every few years, depending on finances really. When I was a kid (not that long ago, I'm only 25) we went away every summer for at least 2 weeks. My sister and her husband are both travel agents (and obviously love to travel); they take about 2 big vacations a year and probably a few smaller ones too.

We go away more than once a year, but that's because my guy is a workaholic and can't stop himself from working if he's in town. We have to go away to get a real break! Plus, we love travelling!
I think most people take vacations once a year. People who vacation once every 5 years? That seems waaaaayyyyy too long to wait for some time away!

I think that if you can afford to go once a year then you should. It's nice to get away from the routine of daily life and live a bit differently. If you can't afford big vacations every year, maybe just staying in a hotel in your hometown with no kids (if you have any) and make a little mini vacation to re get to know each other.

We go at least twice a year and weekend camp about 4 times a year. Life is very stressful and it is the best way to keep me positive. I think the lack of vacation is the reason a lot of people feel so burned out. Europeans tend to vaction more than americans and they actually live longer.

Some people simply can't afford to go on vacation every year or some simply don't have the time. I personally go on vacation at least once a year. Most people I know go on vacation about once or twice per year.

We go once a year but we also take mini-vacations throughout the year.. long weekends or weekend trips. It is fun to get away even for a night or two in a hotel and just zone out (even if not far from home).
