i was just watching cnn new and they were talking about china having more boys than girl.. that they have a strict one child policy.. i was wondering if any one knew why ...they said that some couples abort the girls when they find out they are carring a girl.. because boys are more desired

The One child policy came out to try and curb overpopulation. What it's done is increase abortion or child abandonment. Also increased underreporting apparently, I've read that the population is probably more like 1.7 billion (rather than 1.3) because people are hiding their children.

The one child policy is a law.
The parents feel that a boy would be more capable of taking care of them in their old age.

one child policy..Girls used to be killed at birth since boys were desired to work in the fields or other hard labor requiring boys to feed the family
