Had the plugs, wires, and canister purge kit put on.
Check engine light is on again, now I am told that the power control module is having an electrical surge and causing other parts to burn up. I am now told that this part is 950.00 and I have already spent 820.00 to replace the canister purge kit, plugs and wires. How do I know if this will solve all our problems.

Sounds like you need to take to another garage, as they would should have fixed it for you. A check engine light usually indicates a problem with one of the air pollution controls that manage the engine system. Get a few more estimates from other garages that are AAA approved.

Seems your are a female and the mechanic saw you coming in with dollar signs in his eyes. hahaha

What you can do is go to like an Auto Zone, and see if they can check your engine there for free. You have to call them or another store to find out where they do this for free.

If not, take your car to a dealer and for $50 or so, they can run a complete diagnostic with printout on one of those $50,000 machines and tell you what is wrong with it, from electrical problems to exhaust problems. I wish I had known you, as I could have done that a way lot cheaper. It is like changing tires. Just a matter of how much money you want to pay.

But in your area, call around and find any auto part places that will do the engine check lite for free. If not best bet is to got to a Ford Dealer for the check. And if that is a small mechanic shop you took it too, you need to change shops if I were you.

the spark plugs wire are loose causing the surge.
plus You have to clean the battery terminals(post and cables)

double check the ground wire of the ignition coil pack, the 12 volts side..It might need a condenser.

Some models require a reset of the engine after a tune up. Remove your battery cables wait ten seconds and replace them.
