That's a really good question. Despite what most people think, sales skills are not something you are born with, it is a learned skill. It requires listening skills not talking skills.

If more people would become better listeners, they would be less annoying and stop holding people captive by talking them up to get a sale.

A good sales person is someone who has a servants heart and is willing to listen without formulating an answer in his/her head. To address only what the customer needs, wants or doesn't want.

Lastly, 99% of people surveyed when asked if they had a bad experience with a sales person, it was their breath.

Need to be able to read people. Had one customer that I could hardly get anything out of, and he was always rude. I walked in one day in a bad mood and answered him in a short tone. I got all his orders after that, I had stood up to him and earned his respect. I am not telling you to be rude, but to earn their respect. Go the extra step, give the customer more than they expect. Since I do not know what you are selling, I can not give examples. Be courteous, be considerate, be respectful, be understanding, be sympathetic to their needs
