most of the shows this season had a long winter break with fewer reruns...
there are a lot of reruns right now because of all the awards shows that have been going on these last couple of weeks and because of the Superbowl next weekend....
I know shows like LOST have promised to play the next 20 some episodes straight through with no reruns...

Don't you just hate reruns, especially early in the season? It drives me crazy! But it's to make sure you keep tuning in (maybe to catch a favorite episode) and it's a way to bring in new viewers.

They are fishing, running a few new episodes trying to generate buzz. It is an attempt to gather a fan base large enough for them to charge advertisers more money.
