My sister has become a Reiki Master and has worked very hard to get there, I have had 2 treatments, the first was WOW! and the feeling lasted for quite a few weeks, the second treatment didn't seem to work.... What would make two treatments so different? The location of both treatments were different, and I was sceptical the first time, and believed in it after the results of the first treatment. I dont want to offend her, and would love that WOW factor I got before, but dont want to feel let down by it if nothing much happens again...

I am a Master/Teacher or higher in five forms of Reiki. Karuna, Magnussa Phoenix, Tibetan, Usui Shiki (the original form), and Usui Shiki Ryoho (the form that was modified by Chujiro Hayashi, and Hawao Takata (the woman that introduced Reiki to the west)

There are two possible explanations of why the wow experience happened first.

1. Your energy pathways were more messed up them, and the energy had to work a lot harder.

2, Your sister may have been distractedm or unable to concentrate as well for the second healing.

Reiki works better if the mind is not distracted.

Every session you have with Reiki will always be different, no two are ever the same. This is true for where the session is held and who is involved, all can be the same but the energy and what is being healed usually changes. Other factors that can affect a session are what is happening with the Reiki Practitioner/Master and the client, if one or both are being bothered by thoughts or other things that are blocking the flow, the session will be different.

Sometimes, even if all things are perfectly set and everyone is in a good meditative state, the receiver of Reiki will feel NOTHING. However, this does not mean that there isn't something going on, the long term affects of Reiki will cause changes in your life long after you have forgotten you even had a treatment because it does work on a very deep soulful level. These are subtle changes and not mind blowing ones most often.

Hi Robert, I'm a Traditional Usiu Ryoho Reiki Master/Teacher also a Seichim practitioner, Bowen Therapist and also have level 4 in Touch for Health. It depends on what you want to know about Reiki. But here goes. Any one can use Reiki. Reiki is transferred through the hands (hands on healing unlike Seichim which is done above the body in the chakra levels) but should not be confused with "spiritual healing" which implies a belief system. Reiki is not a belief system, nor does it require any change to your existing beliefs. In fact, since the mid 1800's when Dr. Mikao Usui rediscovered the method of transferring Universal Healing Energy through the hands, which he named Reiki, this method has steadily spread around the world. From my personal experience I have seen the effectiveness of Reiki on clients and friends suffering from migraines, respiratory problems, horrific burns, diverticulitis pain & stomach cramps. Of equal significance is the benefit that Reiki has at the mental, emotional and spiritual areas of ones life. The benefits of Reiki are substantial and numerous. Anyone who has ever experienced a Reiki treatment will tell you that they feel "Peaceful", "Totally relaxed", and even full of "Energy and Happiness". I have had clients fall asleep in treatments. I hope this is some help to you. Love, Light and Laughter Mazzy

The wow factor was your expectation at work. Reiki works best when the person receiving the energy wants to be healed. The energy will work equally if the person receiving lets the energy do what it does best. The first treatment could have been the cracking of the eggs that opened the avenue for healing. The second treatment could have been just a small adjustment in the arrangements of the egg shell pieces. The best thing you can do is let the energy do what is was meant to do. No other intention will help. Be open to the healing process. No judgements.

I think it works simply by increasing blood flow to the injury so it will heal quicker. I think it is simply mental focus rather than magic. Because not all injuries heal in the same way as others Reiki can really help some kinds of injury and not others.

I had a 5 minute treatment in a busy shopping mall and it was great, so setting is not necessarily crucial. If I understand it, energy is balanced, so the previous treatment may have put right a strong imbalance, so that the second time, there was not such a big difference.

I tried it once and to be honest, I didn't feel anything much at all. Others rave about it though. I guess circumstances, atmosphere, your mood, her mood - all sorts of things really - would interfere with it. Maybe give it another chance with no expectations at all. I know it will be hard not to have any but try not to think about it beforehand and just go with the flow. Let us know how you get on!!
