Wow, dont even put them in the same category. HP is way better than dell and more reputable company. They are higher quality and not as cheaply built like dell. All the electronics we own are HP, I have never heard anyone that has got a dell actually say anything good about it.

from what i've heard HPs cust serv/tech support is at an all time low....i would go with a Dell just for that reason alone. HP always prided itself on it's cust serv/tech support which made them stand out from the rest. If they don't have that then their just another computer company *shrug* A computer is a computer...they all buy their parts from the same over seas manufactures...it's the support they provide to their customer's that sets the individual companies apart from each other.

Yeah, HP hands down. Not only do they have superior tech support, but they make much better machines. Dells can be flimsy and can break down easily due to cheap products used in the laptops. Especially their cooling fans. Besides, HP usually gives you more bang for your buck.

I've had both, currently use an HP. I've had some funky stuff with the HP's wireless, I think I like the Dell's better.

Personally, I'd go for the one with the better graphics card...that and whichever one was lighter/thinner.

I don't know, both are decent laptops...It's kind of like asking somebody to choose between a Toyota and a Honda. They're both good cars, and it really boils down to what name brand you prefer, and maybe the subtle differences in options...

Personally, I might go with the HP, because I like the notebooks with the dual pointing option (HP has notebooks with the Thinkpad style fingerstick deal in the middle of the keyboard as well as the touchpad).

Good luck
