I know exactly what you're talking about. I think a lot of people go through that. This year I tried doing them a few days in advance or doing part of them at a time. If you find you have nothing to do just put on some music and do your work. A little bit at a time is a good way to go, sometimes you just end up finishing it too.

I imagine you must have a list or datebook that you work out of (or manage your life out of). What I do is I make sure to schedule in the things that are for me that are absolutely necessary and make them a priority, not something that can be postponed. I put in lists with checkboxes, and include things that make me happy such as have dinner with a friend, write for an hour, and my favorite, do nothing for an hour (it actually means do whatever I want for an hour that is not an errand or necessity). At least put in two of these a week, and stick to it without feeling guilty - you'll be in much better shape!

i really recommend seeing a therapist. even if you aren't "diagnosed" with any specific problem, it's like having a friend there whose job is solely there to listen to you. he or she can also use their years of experience to help you sort things out or come up with new ideas to help you. and best of all, there's no judgement there!
