When I try to watch a streaming video or when I leave my computer, my computer always blinks off to this black screen, and I have to move the mouse or click a button to get the normal screen back. How can I disable it. If it helps I have IE (Internet Explorer) P.S. do you know what it's called?

Sounds like power saving to me. Your monitor is going into standby mode when it detects that you have not used you computer for a while.

Open Control Panel and click Power Options. You can disable power saving functions from there.

It sounds like you have no screen saver selected, and no time set for the screen saver to come up when you leave the computer. Go to start menu, then control panel, then Appearences & themes, then select a screen saver, choose one, set the time interval for it to come up when the screen is left idle. I picked 10 minutes. The reason yours goes black is because nothing is moving, so your screen saver comes up, only it's a black screen, since none is selected. Confusing ? Sorry ! Try it. Hope it works. Could be your Power Saving Options too.

Move the mouse to a blank area of screen. Right click - select Properties... Select screen saver tab. Extend the screen saver time and have a look at the power saving options
