My clients are companies, my business consist on selling gift certificates for employees due to birthdays, anniversaries, accomplishments, etc. Who should approach in this case? Most of the times it is very difficult to get a name and a e-mail address to send a presentation.

I would first call the 10 companies you want to do business with and ask someone in HR if they will take 5 mintues, and only take 5, to answer a market survey. Then I woud ask them if they do these things for their employees.
and dont talk while she is talking, dont tell her what a great idea it is, just LISTEN.
After that you will know if they even do anything at all, and it will help you to decide, go forward, start again.
After each survey, then send each HR person a gift certificate like you would expect them to buy and thank them for their time and give them brochure.
Do this with whomever would buy it. Maybe it isnt HR, you can ask HR who might do it.
Its a tough market.
Good Luck.

I agree HR is the way to go. If its a small company ask for the office manager. If you get a contact name try to get a face-to-face meeting, you'll have much more success then just e-mailing them a presentation that will probably end up in the trash folder.

Start with the Human Relations (HR) office. Check the company website, often the head of HR is listed along with contact info. Good Luck!

If you want to do it right, the only way is the customer always approaches the business, never the other way around.

Because by you approaching the customer, you assume a lower position on the totem pole, opening yourself to being taken advantage of.

If the companies are larger marketing would generally handle stuff like that.
