the truth:
Dumper: I cheated on you. But i dont regret it. Im actually happy with myself, because ive realised that i dont need you any more. Andimagine, that girl was your best friend, and we had a one night stand when you were on holidays.
or a nicer version of the truth:
Dumper: ive met someone, i think we should break up. im sorry. i dont think we shopuld see each other any more, its for the best.
or a nice sugar-coated lie:
Dumper: things just arnt working, im sorry, i really am, i think we should break up. We can still be friends, but it will be hard for me to keep in touch. It just isnt workin.

definatly the truth, that may be very painful in some cases but at least you can come to terms with it and move on, the truth always comes back to haunt you anyway so its best to be upfront and honest in the first place. lies only make things worse in the long term, for both parties involved
