By studying society we can gain an insight on behaviors and patterns people have. This allows us to market new products, gauge demand on resources and find differences in culture. Sociology is an important field and many companies have invested into finding out why do we do what we do.

for the same reason it is logical to study anything. To learn how "it" works the innerworkings of, and why , and so we dont keep making the same problems for ourselves, for pete's sake and the children's won't anybody think of the children?
