Most places have a base fee that starts around $40..this will pay for the needle, supplies etc. This will get you a small maybe 2inch minimal detail tat that will take maybe 15 minutes.

Some places base is higher that that so check it out, usually $40 is the cheapest though. The price gets higher the bigger and more detailed you want the tat.

As far as time, it depends on the detail some tattoos take several sessions to complete.

The cost of tattoos. Tattooing has always been expensive. The tattoo supply has increased dramatically with a surge in the amount of artists, but the demand has also increased, with more people getting tattoos, and tattooing becoming less taboo. So tattooing is still expensive. In America, you can expect a basic price of $80 to $100 an hour. Sometimes shops dont charge by the hour, but instead by the piece, and that may or may not be to your advantage. There is a minimum at every shop, and although that often differs, very few shops will ever touch you for less than $40. This may seem incredibly pricey, especially since you might only want a star the size of a dime, but theres a few reasons they wont charge you less. Most tattoo artists pay a percentage of what they make to the shop in order to work there and use certain supplies. Most shops in America pay between 40-60% of what they make to the shopaes owner, so out of that $40 minimum, the artist may only be making $20. Also, tattooing equipment is another cost. So in order to make it worth their time at all, they usually set minimums. There are a few myths about the cost of tattoos that Iad like to correct. Color tattoos do not cost more than black and grey ones. Color tattoos do tend to take longer if they have large palettes than black and grey tattoos do, so that may be a factor, but color itself is not more expensive. Where it is on the body may differ in price at the discretion of the tattoo artist. Shoulders are easy to tattoo, while the lower back is much more difficult. So the same exact tattoo on your shoulder may cost a good deal less than it placed on your lower back. This shouldnat factor into your decision when deciding where to place your tattoo that you will have for the rest of your life, but it is something that you might want to be aware of. Since no tattoo price is set in stone, unless the artist works exactly by the hour only, tattoo artists oftentimes try to see how much money they can get out of the customer without scaring them away. Prices are often made up on the spot depending on many factors, including whether they are excited to do the piece, where it is going to be on your body, and even if they are broke that week. None of this is fair, especially since tattoo shops rarely ever negotiate prices, so it as wise to find a fair and talented tattoo artist that you trust, rather than gambling at the shop closest to you.

I have four. The first one is an armband and was free (I worked in the studio where it was done) but would, at the time (about 10 years ago) have cost about £60 and took two hours.

The second is about 1 inch high and 4 inches wide and took, I suppose, half an hour or so, and cost I think something like £30 (again, this is about 10 years ago)

The third, which was about 2 years ago, is circular and about 5 inches across, cost £60, and took maybe an hour.

The most recent was done about 10 days ago, and is about 4 inches across, cost £50 and took about half an hour.

Ultimately, a tattoo is something that will be with me forever, so my thinking is I'm prepared to pay whatever it costs to get a good piece done by a good artist.

Hope that answers your question!

You'd really have to go to local tattoo shops to find out. Some will have their prices listed on the artwork, ususally I've seen them start at $50 and go up from there. Other tattoo shops will have prices listed for some but you'll have to ask for prices for the bigger more detailed stuff. At other tattoo shops you will have to ask the person who will be doing your tattoo how much it will cost because each person in the shop might charge a different rate. Don't just go by where you can get the cheapest one though because it might turn out terrible and then your stuck with it. Ask to see a portfolio first.

I would say about £25 to £50 depending on size and design. Smallish or medium sized tattoo should only taked about 20 mins.

My tattoo is of a cartoon giraffe on my back it is on the right hand side. Its roughly 4 or 5inch. Took 30-45mins to complete and it cost me about £60 roughly if i mind correctly.

My advice is get something you want if considering one and also consider when you are older and want to cover it up.

depends on size. mine is about 3 by 2 inches its two linked hearts with my boyfriends name in a scroll. cost me 35 quid for the out line and the colours and 10 quid for his name putting in. most places charge you before they start tatooing as once they open the needles if you dont use them they have to be thrown away. so make sure its what you want cause you could be wasting alot of money.

my tattoo is a stylised head of a wolf, on my right bicep and its as big as my palm, cost £25.

a tattoo's cost will depend on it's size and complexity, also on whether it is a design the tattooist does a lot or is a new one you have taken with, also on how many colours it has.
