Take her out to a funny movie or go bowling. Do anything fun so she doesn't just stay home moping. Or hang out somewhere where there are lots of single guys - hopefully she'll meet someone new. If you don't like bars go to a coffe shop. The guys there tend to be nicer (and not drunk).

Do something unrelated to Valentine's Day. Volunteer at a local soup kitchen, or some other charity of your choice, together. Make new friends together, and be too busy to linger on self-absorption and self-pity.
DO NOT go to see some fluffy romantic comedy, or try to be a fill-in for the lost love.

Your best friend is fortunate to have such a caring and concerned friend like you. This sounds like the perfect excuse for a "Girl's Night Out"! Take her someplace that will get her mind off her ex. Perhaps a place where you both can hang out and relax like a nice restaurant. Go see a "chick flick" afterwords. Have fun!

You are a very thoughtful friend. Invite her to see a funny movie and have a bite to eat. A walk through the mall. Coffee and dessert out at a cafe.

staying home on valentines day would probably be the best thing for the two of you to do things together to avoid running into her ex or places they may have gone.

Go to a restaurant and have dinner. You could go bowling or go to the mall. Maybe give each other make overs.
