Simple write over the permanent ink with a dry erase marker and let it sit for about 30 seconds. Then, wipe off with a clean cloth or eraser. The permanent ink will disappear! This actually works, I just tried it.

Apparently there is some chemical reaction between the two inks that causes the permanent marker to be wiped away.

Have fun!

Write over it with a white board marker, let it sit for a minute then wipe off. if there is residue of the permanent ink, try some WD40 on a paper towel then wipe dry. have a bunch of preschoolers and they don't know that they can only use a certain type of pen on the board.

This happened to me. I used a plain dry erase board with a sharpie permanant marker to put permanant lines for a monthly calender, only I put them in the wrong spaces! Here's what worked: I used "Soft Scrub with Bleach" that I believe is by Clorox. At the time I figured it was ruined so why not try it--well, it worked perfectly! In fact, I used one of those green scrub pads by Scotch I think. I thought I would scratch the surface so badly that the dry erase pen wouldn't come off, but nope--it's been a great board for 2 years now! Try it. I know you won't be dissapointed.

Use a Mr. Clean brand Magic Eraser. Those things are amazing. I took permanent ink off of my son's furniture with one. Good Luck!

the other guy was right, writing over it with the dry erase marker will remove the permanent marker. also, I'm pretty sure nail polish remover gets permanent marker off... nail polish remover get all sorts of stuff off of things, its crazy. if none of that works (but it will) use a magic eraser, you know, those white things by Mr. clean. those get permanent marker off of everything its an amazing thing... lol I'm kind of a clean freak!

Try "Goo Off." I had the same problem with a white board (my kids used permanent marker on it) and it took it right off. You can buy it at the Home Depot.

use the little spray bottle of cleaner that come with the Expo Dry Erase Marker set.

Unfortunately, any other solvent will have the ability of dissolving the clear coat of laminate that allows a white-board to work. So, if the Expo solvent doesn't work, you're kind of stuck.
