This price sounds correct for high end vinyl windows. If you want insulation and long life. The u-factor should be below .30 and the Solar heat gain should be .22 or lower. If you buy from Lowe s or Home Depot, you are buying price not quality. Good windows will save the average family 60% on electricity (due to A/C) in the Summer and the same on Gas in the winter. Don t get cheap, you get what you pay for. Don t listen to the ignorant, most people don t know anything about windows, they just assume. I ve been in the business for 18 years. Don t expect a Cadillac for Yugo prices, it doesn t work in cars, clothes, windows or any other product.

I just had my windows replaced by a very reputable company & paid about $375.00 each except the picture window which was significantly higher. They are thermal windows with the pop out cleaning feature and guaranteed for life of house. I asked the sales person why I see adds for $179.00 per window installed and he explained to me all the add ons that other company puts onto the contract. I am sure there is probably a medium price out there - you just have to shop for it.

I do mostly kitchen and bath stuff but I've had 2 clients who have had it done through the whole house over the past year. Expect $400 to $500 per window. One guys estimate using Andersens was much higher. I live in NJ.

Last year I paid $1200 for 12 single hung 3'x4' windows plus three picture windows. Roughly, on the average, $800 per window.
