Will it make the GOP even more right-leaning (since there are less moderate voices to listen to), potentially disenfranchising more voters?

What type of changes will the GOP need to make to lure moderates back to their party?

The question is not intended to be right or left wing.

My personal politics are moderate dem. I've had the same job (Army) for over 20 years. I think the definition below of the majority of the democratic party is wrong. The fact is, dems won the mid-terms because "disenfranchised" moderates left the GOP.

I'm interested in the opinions of Y!A participants.

First, I would like to say I am a Republican who is totally disgusted with the vast majority of users on this forum who call themselves Republicans.
Here are my observations and opinions about them;
1: They would rather put their own self interests in this president, ahead of the interests of this Nation.
2: They would rather clone, reticule, and demean those who would try to bring serious discussion to this forum, than debate them on their own merits.
3: They also seek to report in an attempt to undermine those stated in #2 in an effort to have those facts removed.
4: and final, history will remember those who stood by while this Nation was robbed, lied to, and stolen from and those that defended those very practices.

Pretty easy to use either party in this rant huh?

'average' is a sloppy note. Neocons, convinced. we do not decide on massive spending globalists like Lindsay Graham, Spector, Snowe etc. i do not imagine that Log cabin Republicans are inherently average regardless of the reality that, purely gay, which has not something to do with it. decision in abortion is a state difficulty and in the journey that they are authentic Republicans in spite of in the journey that they are professional decision they're going to imagine Roe v Wade grow to be undesirable regulation for that reason. those matters are not 'average' nor definitive.

I agree with the first post.

Why on earth would the go to an extreme? The only way to keep the moderates is to be - well, moderate!

Fix the borders. Quit spending like liberals. Deal with the illegal problem. These would be a start, but I can tell you that thus far, I see *no* reason to vote Dem.

Fozzie, my fellow muppet, has it right.

Most people are liberals when they are young and irresponsible. When they grow up, they become conservatives. It rarely happens the other way around, so it would seem that as people learn things, they become smarter and, therefore, become conservatives.

What is majority of the liberal base? Young people, college kids, welfare slackers, kids who still live at home at the age of 40, rich people who never had to work hard at a real job, criminals, and basically anyone else who has not decided to take responsibility for their lives.

Who are the conservatives? The blue collar non-union worker, the people who work two jobs to get ahead, the people who worked their way through college, and basically the people who believe in taking responsibility for their lives.

It is interesting to note that your (right wing sounding) question is interspersed with a (left wing talking point)" of "disenfranchising voters".
It appears that you might be a "wolf in sheeps clothing"

I do not think there is going to be a mass exodus to the Democratic Party. There will be, however, a movement within the Republican party to make certain reforms in the GOP.
