I know, sounds crazy that I'm complaining but my 5 month old baby girl sleeps ALL the time! She won't wake up in the morning until about 11-12 noon. I start trying to wake her up at 8 but usually can't get her up but if I do, shes back to bed at 9 and she'll sleep until 2 and then she takes mountains of naps during the day! She'll finally go to bed at about 8 and wake up at 9, spend time with us until about 12 midnight and then its back to bed for the entire night! I don't mind the schedule, I'm just starting to think somethings wrong! Thoughts?? I've tried a schedule but she won't follow it! Any schedule ideas?

Hey no worries. It's perectly normal for many babies. My 5-month old is the same way. Her 6-month old cousin is the exact opposite. My 10-year old son slept all the time too.

That is absolutely normal! Babies require much more sleep than adults - about 14 hours a day. A better schedule might be to send her to bed earlier - around 10PM or so. She probably won't sleep past about 9 in the morning. Then, put her down for a nap around 1PM, and let her sleep until she wakes up. If she's tired, you'll know, she'll be either fussy/grumpy, or downright silly.
It's tough to raise a kid, but hang in there - you're about to get to the best part! The reward greatly outweighs the bad.

It does sound a little crazy that you're complaining. :) Have you asked your pediatrician if this is normal? If your doctor says that there's nothing to worry about, I would just enjoy the great schedule that your baby is on. Maybe catch up on some sleep of your own! :)

wow... my sn use to sleep through the night about 10 hours at that age, he would wake up at like 9 am then nap twice. once at 12 and again at 4 or so. go to sleep around 10... maybe when she is up she is overeating or you are keeping hwer up too long after her naps that she's catching up... remember that she is growing and this is how they grow they eat and they sleep to gain wieght... just call your local doctors office and see what they say... if it is of concern they will ask you to have her come in... other than that don't worry too much she is growing

nothing is wrong, babies just require a lot of sleep, some more than others. my son is 15 months, goes to bed at 8:30pm and sleeps until 10-11am. he also takes about 4 hours of naps during the day. she might just need more sleep.

Try giving her some coffee! No im just kidding. Its really normal for kids to sleep alot especially when the are growing. The body gets tired. DOn't worry about it. Its just a phase and soon she will be up at all hours of the night and you will wish you have the tired sleepy baby back. At this age they are so cute. Enjoy before she turns into a teenager.

Wow, how does she find time to eat with all that sleeping?! :))

Sounds like she's going through a growth spurt. But, if this keeps up definately take her to a doctor. Not waking up and signs of lethargy are not normal. Did she just have her vaccinations? Sometimes that will make them sleepy, but shouldn't make them unresponsive.

Has she always been like this, or has she just started this?

I know babies sleep alot, but at this age, she should be going places with you, playing with her toys, etc. This sounds extremely abnormal. I'd take her to the pediatrician and explain all I knew. It could be serious (pray not!), or it could be something like a hormonal imbalance or something in her diet. Put it this way, it shouldn't be her sleeping schedule that's causing the trouble

She is a growing girl. She probably needs the amount of sleep she is getting. I wouldnt worry to much about it she does have waking times and then she needs her nap. If you feel this is not normal then you might want to call her doctor.

She is a baby, that is expected for most.

If she is still doing this in another 3 months, talk to your Family Doctor about it.
