I think generally speaking, yes it does. However, at the moment I believe there are ways to keep a balance as long as you are able to 1. separate yourself sufficiently from time to time and 2. have access to other sources of gaining your information in completely different and original ways. This however, takes a lot of time and effort and unfortunately most people it is just not practical. It is in these situations where creaitvity and originality is lost forever.
Having said that, one's own imagination comes from perceptions of other's though so they are important in developing one's own creativity.

I would jolly well say so. That is why I very rarely watch televison nowadays. It's garbage. You know, people always used to say that television rots your brain but I never believed them.

It can if you let it. But if you take a break from it on a regular basis, it can actually help stimulate your creativity. You need to manage your exposure to media bombardment, get the amount that's optimum for you. Some people prefer none, but not many do.

I think not but on the other hand it is true that people talk more about things they know nothing about and there may be a connection with your statement. For instance if I am changing the wheel on my car my mother will give me a talk on am I sure its not the sparking plugs that need doing
