Married 7 Years, I am a Soldier. I had some anger issues and PTSD I was working through in therapy at her request (made progress too). Now I am 34 with two dogs I can't keep and a home I will lose to. I kind of want to go to Iraq now.

You need to realize that she doesn't make or break your life, and that there's a hell of a lot more in the world than her lame ***. Try to keep busy with stress relieving activity, like working out, or hobbies. I would suggest trying to not think about her, but I know that it's hard. Surround yourself with friends, family, and coworkers who you can count on to support and stand by you through the tough times. It's times like now when you find out who your real friends are. Basically, the key thing is to not mope and get all depressed, but realize how your life can be better without her.

This seems to happen a lot to soldiers. War messes with your mind. I am sorry to hear about your situation. I'd say stick with the therapy and try to move to a place where you can keep your dogs. Don't get down on yourself - you've been through enough already. Make yourself a better person for you (and not just her), and DON'T GO BACK TO IRAQ. I'm divorced, too, (although I've never served) and I can tell you that it will just take time, but you'll get there. Just make sure you heal yourelf of the anger and PTSD for your personal well-being and so that you won't have that baggage going into the next relationship.

Continue with therapy... Iraq is not the answer. If she wants a divorce from your anger issues, then it's gonna be hard to accept her decision, but you can get through it. Nothing can ever get so low, or so behind that you can't begin to rebuild yourself... you just need a starting point. And once you do decide that today is the day that you start doing things differently, going left instead of right, etc... you'll begin to notice that you're feeling better about yourself, you're feeling better about life, and others will begin to notice as well. I've been there myself... not with the anger issues, but with an ex who decided she didn't want to be married anymore. Turns out, I ended up more successful AFTER the divorce than when I was married. It's also a way to show the ex everything that she is now missing out on.

Good luck and God bless...

Sorry I have nothing good to say. I tried for five years with a cop who has PTSD. I gave it everything I had and then some more. The resistance to change and the paranoia drove me away.

I cope by throwing a party and drinking libations!! And then when I realize no one is fussing at me because I am wearing the lampshade over my head, I get a deep feeling of happiness.

know that life goes on and that you deserve better- don't loose your home just sell it and get yourself something smaller-(that you can afford) give yourself time to think things through before asking to be shipped away -remember if you don't take care of your pets who will?
