Find ones close to you and call them. We always let kids come to our adoptions and help walk dogs and introduce them to people. You can learn a lot to help you later.

My daughter is 14 and she can do anything a vet tech can do. She already has three vets to hire her when she turns 16 and accepted into the zoology program at the zoo.

Get invloved you may start out scooping poop but get your foot in the door and learn from others.

when my older sister was 14 she volenteered at the local humane society. you can help cats, dogs, birds, small animals (including rabbits) and reptiles. all that have been rescued or abandoned. The only down side is that almost all of the animals are up for adoption so you might bond and then thell go away. Youll help animals find good homes.

See if there are any veterans organizations in your area...many older veterans in nursing homes just need a person to visit now and then, or deliver some snacks or newspapers...believe me, they'd appreciate some attention....or some of the younger returning veterans may need some cheering up if they're injured and just sitting in the veterans hospital.

For animals, check into your county animal control office...you can make flyers or help get some of them adopted.

Hold a pet food drive for a local shelter.

Talk to your local shelter and see if you can volunteer. Some of them have jobs for people under 16, although in most cases you do have to be at least 16.

If you have a low-cost of free spay/neuter clinic in your area, distribute flyers for them.

Thanks for wanting to help! It's refreshing when kids want to do something like that. We need more people like you in this world!

You may be able to volunteer at local pounds / shelters/ rescues helping with clean up, walking the dogs, data entry, posting informtion on the animals on adoption websites, etc.

Also check with your local branches of the Amercan Cancer Society and/or the American Heart Association, and see if you can help heart/cancer patients care for their pets (feeding, walking, etc.)

you can check to see if your town has a animal shelter. if you like horses maybe you could find a ranch to work on.. sure yor only 14 but that is awesome that you want to volunteer your time. try asking your career counsellor at school maybe they can set you up with something.

You may check and see of there is therapeutic riding center in your area. My daughter (who is 8) volunteers with me at one we have in our area. She cannot assist with walking the horses with patients yet, but she can clean stalls, water horses, sweep the alleyway, etc. They are always looking for volunteers
