If it smells of sick it's because there is still sick in the wool.

Soak it in something like detol (they do a purple, nice smelling one now).

And then wash it as hot as you dare, with a biological washing powder.

Soak it in vinegar for a little while (in the washer). Wash it with detergent. When it comes out of the washer it will smell like vinegar, but once it's dry that smell will go away. The sick smell should be gone. Vinegar is an odor eater! It works with fast food smelling clothes as well. My husband delivered pizzas for a few years while going to college. It worked for him!

There are enzyme products available which I have used successfully on animal vomit, blood, urine, etc. My favorite is GET SERIOUS - available at PetSmart chain stores and various pet centers. These enzymes actually break down (at the molecular level) natural "icky" stuff, thereby eliminating it altogether. I've used it on OLD, OLD stains and have had it come out completely. If my dogs can't still smell it, believe me - it's clean! Yes, I've used it on clothings, bedding, etc., successfully. Worth a try!

You should try washing it again line dry it and spray it with fabreeze while it is still wet. This should take the smell out.

I've used carpet cleaner before when nothing else works! The spray kind that evaporates works best. Febreeze doesn't really work that well.

wash it again but add extra comfort or other conditioner into the washing machine or alternatively hang it up outside for a few days

Have you tried Febreze? It takes smoking smell out, so it surely can handle some vomit!
