Peppermint is helpful with the problem. There are a variety of means to incorporate it such as tea, oil, etc. The same goes for chamomile. Also, eating bread, rice and potatoes can aid because they soak up acidic fluids in your stomach. You can eat a slice of bread, a half cup of rice or half a potato during a meal. Staying away from spicy foods is another natural acid reflux remedy. Onions give me grief from heartburn and, ultimately, reflux. Even some foods you don’t think are spicy can cause acid reflux for multiple reasons--could be additives or chemical reactions within your body. You might need to keep a diary when you have episodes so you can have an idea of what's causing it. And staying away from these foods is a natural acid reflux remedy. Fennel, chamomile and ginger root are some of the most common natural herbs used as a homeopathic remedy and can be incorporated into your cooking. Please note that if your acid reflux symptoms disappear after using a homeopathic remedy but other problems such as hoarseness in the throat or coughing arise, it may be an indication that you are experiencing silent acid reflux. It so, get in touch with a wellness or medical professional.

Don't eat before bed, don't lie down for at least an hour after eating, stay away from foods that can cause it (caffeine and peppermint are the two I can think of now) and eating smaller portions. This can help, but if your symptoms continue, then it's probably worthwhile to take a PPI (which is the class of drugs to which nexium belongs, though I wouldn't actually recommend nexium itself, it's the most expensive PPI and no more effective than any other)

I keep bottled aloe gel in the fridge. I add about 2 tablespoons to a glass of water and experience almost immediate relief after I drink it. It has no real taste and isn't a nasty thick texture like some other remedies.

I totally agree with The Doc about "Don't eat before bed, don't lie down for at least an hour after eating, stay away from foods that can cause it (caffeine and peppermint are the two I can think of now) and eating smaller portions". << This is excellent, tried and true advice - makes a huge difference.

Papaya Enzymes. Go to Wal-mart and buy some papaya enzymes. The papain is the enzyme in the papaya that aid with digestion it helps prevent acid reflux. They are a chewable tablet and are very tasty. Chew up a few 30 min. or so before meals. You can also drink pineapple juice - it basically does the same thing.

I had a terrible time with this everytime I was pregnant.
An old lady friend of mine told me to chew almonds, until they were of a pasty consistency.
Worked like a charm
Good luck!

well, you should take something if your reflux is bad because it can do permanent damage to your esophagus. You can try to not eat anything after 7pm..no chocolate, anything with tomatoes, etc. and if your reflux is bad at night, you might buy one of those wedges or sleep with your head and shoulders on some high pillows so you can sleep.

I take sips of milk. They say not to but it takes it away immediately and it's cheap.
