What is a good gift for a baby girl's first b'day?

My niece is going to be one year old. She's overseas, so anything that limited to English is out. Any ideas? Baby rattles or something?

Does she like riding toys? Blocks? Books? I'd go with a rocking horse or something she can push around. Toddlers LOVE that kind of stuff. I worked at a daycare, and kids would argue over those specific toys. Also, the Little People toys are very popular. If you know something that she sort of likes, I'd go in that direction.

Expensive-Wagon- they can use it for years to come

Thoughtful but not as expensive-A cherished teddies or precious moments figurine. They have ones that you can collect for every year they are born. Each of my daughters has one of the collections. You can find these online or at a Hallmark store

Inexpensive- Board Books- Those are the books that feel like every page is cardboard. Some good ones are either ones that just have pictures that you can go through and ask what they are, or books by David Shannon (They are called the Diaper David books I think. He has a character in regular books called David so he wrote ones about when David was a baby. They are hillarious and cute. My kids all loved them.)

A Diaper Cake!! Have a cake created with Size 4 or 5 diapers and make it a "bedtime fun" cake. Include great bedtime books like Sanra Boynton stories, Dr. Seuss or GoodNight Mioon!! Also include a night light, a lullabye CD, a pair of pajamas and a new stuffed animal friend!!

I have a one year old (well, she'll be one next week) and she is fascinated by my cakes. I think the girl you are celebrating would have a great time exploring her very own birthday bedtime diaper cake!!

Check out my sight....I'd love to help you celebrate the first year!

I have a two year old and a 1 year old and I think both of their favorite toys are the
Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Learning Home
and the Fisher Price laugh and learn Learning Puppy. These both are great gifts depending on how much you want to spend. Go to www.fisherprice.com for more information on these items. As for the Radio Flyer Tricycle, I have this and my 2 year old can barely ride it and she is tall for her age. It also flips over very easily. Hope this helps.

Well, my daughter absolutely loved the Leap Frog toy "LuLu the Letter Spinning Spider". She would never put it down. Educational toys are the best bet because it makes the parents happy and children that age LOVE them. If you buy anything Leap Frog brand you should be safe.
