Ken Livingstone, gave the thumbs up for this hideous statue to be erected in the same wonderful, cultural, historical place as Nelson, the saviour of Europe.
Ok,the statue is of a woman without limbs and preganant.I recognise the difficulties of disability, but this person hasnt done anything great for our country.Shouldnt the statue be in a more appropriate place like outside some left wing inner city technical college or something?
Trafalgar square is recognised throughout the whole world and is amajor tourist attraction. What must the Japs and Americans make of this hideous monstrosity.
We're a laughing stock!

Thanks for this. I've thought this since I first saw it. It has to be a PC decision - they are daring us to dislike a statue of a naked, disabled woman. I wonder what Muslims think of it, their religion requiring the body to be covered from neck to knees? With this in mind, I can't understand why Ken agreed to have it; I didn't think he would want to upset an ethnic group.

I have nothing against the woman herself, but it's not an attractive piece; pregnancy is something to be kept private.
This cheapens it, and I feel sorry for the child, who will grow up with this hanging over him/her.

We were railroaded into having this, the Dome, and the London Eye, all of which I resent and dislike. And now the flippin' Olympics. I'm surprised at Ken.

I really do not like you at all, mate. But you are absolutely right, for once. Such Livingstonian nonsense will be an undignified embarrassment. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging that disabled people are a totally valid part of our society, but the heroic tradition of historical heroes is also very important. We must not throw huge chunks of our cultural identity away for the sake of political correctness.
Trafalgar square should belong to Nelson alone. I wouldn't even want Churchill there, detracting from the Admiral.

A place for everything and everything in its place.

I think its dumb.

why not have a statue of a midget as they have to put up with loads of difficulties, or why not a shortsighted bloke wearing glasses.

I'm slightly hard of hearing, do I get a statue soon?

Can't imagine why you would be concerned by the opinions of Japanese when it's clear you have no respect for them at all - you call them Japs. In fact, given your avatar, I think you respect a narrow segment of humanity. Yes, I know of the pre-nazi significance of the swastika, but I think you revel in the nazi era significance.

I am more embarrassed for England because of your totally disrespectful avatar.... you must be of the lowest order of life on the island to make such a disrespectful act against the good people of England. And against all who died to keep the world free.

It's political correctness that is eating away at decency and our heritage. Normal people, like most of us, don't want such stupidity, but how do we stop it?

The Nelson Monument is quite idiotic.

If you approach to see Nelson's statue, you simply can't because it's too ************* high up.

And if you move far enough to see his statue, you simply can't, because you're too motherfuking FAR to see it!

Only astronauts and googleearthnauts can see it, and all we see is his ************* HAT!!

So what's the matter with a well-viewable naked freak???
