i had a cervical stitch (cerclage) put in two weeks ago and the only restrictions the dr gave me was "nothing in the vagina" so that means no sex obviously, i have an incompitant cervix which was the reason for the cerclage so i can understand why he wouldnt want anything inserted into the vagina. but i am wondering do you think that means no doing anything that would make me orgasm? sorry if that's an uncomfortable question, i kind of am scared to ask the dr that. i have heard that orgasms can cause the cervix to thin, not sure if this is true or not. anyway if you have any thoughts or suggestions let me know, i wasnt sure/
thanks

i have asked this before but didnt get alot of answers, another question i have on it is why exactly (if you know) are orgasms bad when pregnant??

I am currently 32 weeks along, and had an emergency cerclage put in at 18 weeks. My doctor only told me "no sex", nothing about no orgasms. my husband and i decided to play it safe (no orgasm) until i was (finally) given permission for sex (1 time every 2 weeks) when i was 28 weeks. I had read in many books and online that orgasm can cause your uterus to contract and thus induce labor. I would ask your doctor, though.

normally orgasms aren't harmful during pregnancy unless there is a high risk problem- your problem could possibly still make things kind of delicate. When I was having frequent miscarriages my doctor told me specifically to avoid orgasm because it can affect the implantation. So although maybe not too harmful in a normal pregnancy, if you have the cerclage, orgasm might still shake things up- just a hunch

For the sake of the pregnancy, obey the doctor's "nothing in the vagina" and make the rest of us rejoice. Avoid anything that makes you orgasm throughout the period of your pregnacy. It seems your pregnancy is needs special care and "sacrifice". Orgasm are not generally bad during pregnancy. But for some people, it may; it depends on how the ob observes your medical histroy or about your birth canal.

If your cervix is incompetent, then I would think no orgasms. Because, when you orgasm it causes the contractions of the muscles, which in turn thins and creates change in the cervix. I would say no. you should not orgasm.
