But now when i plug in the power pack to my laptop it makes a greggling sound? My computer still works fine - do u think water got into the hole you plug the power pack in at? What should i do? Will it be ok? Should i just not plug it in ? Please help my hubby's gonna kick my booty. Thanks

hiya,
u being a woman would definitely have a hair dryer, just invert your laptop and use the hair dryer blower, use it repeatedly over the keyboard and shud take about 15-20 mins, and do this atleast 2-3 times and den only plug it in power or else it could be dangerous, and keep ur laptop inverted upside down as long as possible before ur hubby come to know. hope this helps :):):):)

Many times computer equipment, even when soaked, will still work as long as it's completely dry. Does it make the noise when it's on and not plugged in? It also depends on how exactly the noise sounds. If it sounds electrical then it's a problem from the water. If it sounds just like some weird noise the computer is making it might just be a coincidence. Make sure it's dry. If it only makes the noise when it's plugged in it might be something you can get repaired easily. It also depends on where exactly the noise is coming from. You could have it checked out by a local computer repair shop. Many professionals will check out your computer for free or at least a very minimal fee.

Ok, here is what you should do if your laptop got wet. Immediately unplug it from the wall and then take out the battery. Open it up and place it on a crate or something that will allow airflow to all sides of the laptop. Do not turn it on for at least 48 hours, but a week is better. DO NOT try to speed up the drying process using a fan, a hair dryer or placing on a heater, it will only make the corrosion happen faster. Laptops are usually sealed from water, but you can never be too sure. Hope this helps, and good luck!

This will sound a bit off, but try using your hair dryer on it, set to maximum heat. Pass the device over the whole laptop while it's turned off, including small crevices and holes and the heat will dry the water that's still in it - just don't put the dryer too close.
It's happened to me before, so I quickly unplugged the laptop, removed the battery and dried the water off - the laptop suffered no harm and everything was back to normal. Sure, you could wait for the water to dry off, but I find this procedure is a bit better in case of a hurry.
Allright, I didn't know about corrosion issues because I never experienced them. Might as well check it out.

Without looking at it I doubt anyone will be able to tell you what the noise is or if your computer is going to be ok. My suggestion is that you unplug it and leave it turned off for at least a day. That will give the computer time to dry out and prevent the water from short-circuiting anything.

Try and completely dry it out some how before plugging it up and using it again. If you can manage to get all of the water out it should be ok.

Suggest - you put the laptop and power supply somewhere warm (Top of a radiator / Immesion heater cupboard ) for a few days to dry it out - use your common sense as not to put it in too hot a place as to melt it ! - this will probably dry it out enough to make it OK.

Turn off the computer and let it dry out for a day or two. If that dosen't fix the problem, you might want to have it checked out.
