My baby is almost 5 months now, and just started rolling over.

I would recommend lowering it to at least level 2 now. People have it at the highest because by the time you feed the baby and are putting him/her to bed they wake up if you lower them too far. Level 2 is for when they can sit up. Your child is almost there. Also you are probably not putting him/her to bed asleep anymore too. Level 3 is for when they can pull up which is about 7-10 months. As you can see, that is why so many are saying just to put it to the lowest level. It won't be too long until you are there anyway.
Also if you haven't already, now is a good time to take the bumper out. They will use it to either pull up with or stand on and possibly launch themselves out of bed.

Adjustable mattress height: With most cribs, you can change the height of the crib mattressby simply raising or lowering the mattress support. The time to lower the mattress is when your child begins sitting up. Make sure the mechanism for this feature is essentially foolproof — you don't want your child's jiggling to knock the mattress out of place.

Now is fine. My son is 8 months and can sit up and is showing an interest in pulling up and standing . I lowered his at six and a half months to make sure it was lowered before he just pulled up one day. He tends to surprise us with new abililties like that. I held out as long as possible cause I'm short and I liked the mattress up high.

I lowered the mattress in my girl's crib when she started trying to pull herself up on things. There's no harm in doing it early!

I would go ahead and lower it now. Once they start rolling over, it's not long til they can pull up to things. To be safe, lower the bed before that happens.

When the baby is able to stand up or pull up on their own. My son was able to crawl out of his playpin at 7 months. But he was always extrememly active as a baby. I would say about another month and you should lower it.

For my next child I am just going to set up the crib at it's lowest setting.

The raised setting if only for convenience...so anytime you can change it.

Definitely before they start pulling themselves up to a standing or kneeling position.

Do it now. The higher position is just for convenience and at this age they suddenly have new "stunts" without a lot of warning. You don't want any accidents!

Now would be a good time--just go ahead and put it on it's lowest position so you don't have to bother with it later.
