Please help me. I had a hysterectomy a few months ago and since then instead of feeling better, i feel much much worse. I have bad headaches all the time and sometimes they turn into migraines in which I have to go to the doctor and get a shot. I feel horrible all the time like I have the flu, fever, upset stomach etc. I also have no appetite for sex!! My husband isn't happy, I might feel like sex twice a month!! I am going to my doctor who performed the surgery in a couple of weeks.Do you have any advice for me.I am 32 years old and feel 52!! I still have one ovary left, maybe it's not doing it's job. I've heard maybe I'm anemic or have thyroid problems or IBS or peri menapause...I need help.Living with a constant headache and tired all day(I forgot to mention that part) I'm tired and sleepy all the time. This is not a life, this is a slow painful death for me and my marriage,he tries to understand but he IS a man. What does he know about hormones and lack of sexual appetite? Help me ....

The "red flag" in your description is fever. You know headaches, lack of appetite for sex and tiredness and achiness go with a fever. Maybe you have a low-grade infection and it's just wearing you down. While you could be anemic or have low thyroid, these don't cause fever. In addition to visiting your GYN you should go to an internist who could order general labwork including thyroid hormone level tests. The general labwork (bloodwork) would show if there's any infection going on. While your GYN can order these tests too it's more the internist's specialty to puzzle out this whole sickness/fever/ and possibly thyroid hormone thing. Once you get this figured out you'll be fine. You can clear up an infection with antibiotics and replace hormones and thyroid hormones. Don't be afraid to get opinions from more than one doctor. Since you're seeing your GYN soon anyway you can ask him if he recommends an internist. It's good to be seeing doctors who know each other or have worked with other. Lots of patients see a general doctor and a specialist or two specialists to get a puzzling problem solved. You know yourself better than anyone else and you know something's not right-- with perserverence you'll get it all worked out. Wishing you the best-

After a hysterectomy your hormones take a while to adjust. Your doctor is a vital partner in hormone replacement issues. all the symptoms you are having are normal. Ask for some "estratest" samples and see if that helps with the fatigue and headache also it will definitly help with libido problems. You can also check out the "HYSTERSISTERS" website for some real girls talking about real issues. Don't be discouraged. There is life after hysterectomy. Hang in there! youre not alone.

Yes, you can. It sounds like you experienced a migraine aura which often can be more debilitating than the headache itself. Visual symptoms like seeing flashing lights or zig-zag lines are common aura symptoms. However, it's always a good idea to get checked out to make sure it wasn't a stroke, especially if you never experienced it before so you did the right thing going to the ER.

Check with your doctor as your hormones may be way out of whack since they took one of your ovaries. A very good website to go to is
Hystersisters.com and there is lots of good information there. Good Luck !!!

This is not normal and do not wait to see your doc that did the surgery. See your regular doc to find out what is going on or request an emergency appointment with the doc that did the surgery.
