Depends which mobile provider. Usually its number@provider.com

For cingular you can send it to: XXXXXXXXXX@mmode.com, where XXXXXXXXXX represents your number.

Yahoo Mail? Use the carrier email address format.

Yahoo Messenger? As long as the cellphone is US-based, type the cellphone number in the box and select Send SMS Message.

Either way, it's a txt msg to the recipient.

You may need a 3G phone to do this, as 3G provide free yahoo mail. But if you mean free text, then you can go on cbfsms.com or o2.co.uk and sign up for free.
