My daughter is 14 weeks pregnant. She is 34 and had been on the pill for about 2 years and caught staight away once she stopped taking it.
Someone mentioned to me today that there can be problems as the pill takes a while to get out of your system.
Anyone enlighten me please? This will be her first baby.

I've known SO many people that got pregnant right after they stopped the pill with no complications. Listen to your doctor, not your friends. The pill just mimics a pregnancy hormone to prevent release of an egg. She should be fine.

Don't worry! There will be no complications. I know lots of women who have got pregnant the first month of coming off the pill and their babies are just fine.
Doctors recommend giving it a month, but really that's just so the pregnancy can be dated more accurately. An ultrasound will do that though.

I took the pill with my first baby until i was 3 months pregnant, the tests kept comming up neg so i didnt stop.

I went to the dr, they drew my blood and said stop taking the pills your pregnant. The dr. said the pills must not have been strong enough.

i know two women who were told it would take awhile to get pregnant after getting off the pill, they both got pregnant right away and had healthy babies/pregnancies. Neither expressed concern by the doctor of complications,

The same happened to me I got pregnant the 1st month of coming off the pill.
There were no problems for me or my baby and the doctors didn't say there would be a problem.

For some people it does take a while to become pregnant. FOr others, pregnancy is a breeze. The pill will not effect anything concerning her new baby.
BTW, Congratulations- you're gonna be a wonderful grandma!

you can take pills and still get pregnant and as soon as you find out you must stop and things end up ok. have her call her doctor but im almost sure everything will end up perfect! espically cause she had already stopped taking them. there are people who take them and not know they are pregnant and end up with perfect babies!
