What would have you done if you were president after the 9-11 attacks?

Destroyed Osama and his organization, then spent the $400 Billion we've spent in Iraq on building defenses on our southern and northern borders, increasing our home intelligence network, and ensuring ALL cargo arriving by plane or ship was scanned for explosives, radiation etc.

None of which this administration has done.

Saddam was contained, and didn't have WMDs - he should have been kept contained and the Iraqis would eventually have dealt with him.

I would have focused my efforts on Afghanistan and made sure that Karzai's government succeeded in transforming that country. I would then have joined hands with Putin and wiped the Chechyns out once and for all.

Hezbollah would then be next with counter-insurgency teams going in and waxing these nut jobs.

I would then have pulled assets out of nations such as Saudi Arabia and worked to create a new diplomatic environment between the US and the Arab States.

I would have already built a wall between the US and Mexico. I would have spent Homeland Security money on Coast Guard Cutters, Border Patrol and baggage screeners for every major airport. Next, I would have addressed every port of entry into this country and established a productive way of screening containers.

And I wouldn't have created Gitmo or anything remotely like it...

Found Bin Ladin and kill him. Secure our borders and harbors. Increase military intelligence to avoid another 9-11 attack. Brouhgt together our allies and develop an anti-terrorism agency where the US and all of our allies shared our information to avoid terrorist attacks. Not invaded Iraq, which was in no way connected to 9-11.

Wow, Barbie, us liberals sure did come up with a lot of rational ideas.

Probably gone after the people who actually did it.
Not wait for so long to invade Afghanistan. Not invade a country based on what I knew were lies. Maybe I dont know make more of an attempt to catch Bin Laden. Or maybe not be so nice to Pakistan since they clearly support terrorism.

As a "lib" I am under the impression Bush himself allowed 9/11 to happen so this question is irrelevant.

I wouldn't have let 9/11 happened, by listening to the Cia.

Gone into Afghanistan, stayed there until Osama Bin Ladin's head was on a pike at the gates of Kabul. Nothing more, nothing less.

Well, I would have gone into Afghanistan and actually caught OBL, but I would not have attacked another country that wasn't involved with 9/11 or WMD's like we did in IRaq. That was the stupidest move any president could have made.

tried harder to keep relations up with other nations, work with other nations instead of "your either with us or against us", not gone into Iraq and devoted more troops to finding Bin Laden.
