It says error in loading, how can this be fixed? I do not have a XP cd, it has been lost. Can I find a way to repair this with a bootable cd?

Just let you know, I cannot get into safe mode. How would Igo about doing this if it does not boot?

Call your laptop manufacturer...
Most of the laptops today have either a recoveryCD or a Recovery partion inside...
For example for Dell Laptops when U press Ctrl+F12.. at boot up will take you to the recovery software.. this will set up your machine to factory settings.

go too safemode login then do a system restore point from there
start.. all programs.. accories.. system tools ..system restore point go back to where your computer was working fine
