I am having mine a month before my due date. As for everyone saying you shouldn't throw one for yourself, well I hate surprises and told my mom and my honey to tell his mom to please let me in on all of it! I will make my own candy to give out as favors this is my first as well and want to be as involved as much as I can. Good luck!

27 weeks!

Well traditionally baby showers are held in the 7 or 8th month. The old folks say it's bad luck to have one before then. Course nowadays many have their baby's room completely stocked and ready by 7th month. With you just being 6 weeks. I'd wait a bit.

Most people wait until they are like 8 months pregnant to have thier shower. I'm 36 weeks pregnant and had mine like 2 weeks ago. I wish I would have had it a little sooner, like maybe at the beginning of my 8th month or the end of my seventh. I say that for a few reasons. The number one reason being that I was so uncomfortable at the shower it was hard to enjoy myself. You get tired so easily when you are carrying an extra 35 pounds around. Plus everyone wants to come up and talk to you and rub your belly. I personally cannot STAND THE BELLY RUBBERS. That irritates me more than anything. Number two is that you need a lot of stuff for an infant. I registered at two different stores, just so that people had a choice of where they wanted to shop. No one really followed the registry! I had been buying clothes for months, had no clothing on the registry at all and that is pretty much all I got at my shower was clothes. I actually came home with CLOTHES, CLOTHES AND MORE CLOTHES, and only 2 baby bottles!! I didn't get a lot of the most needed stuff, like a thermometer, nail clippers, nose asperator, crib sheets, BABY BOTTLES. No Stroller, High chair, Bouncer, Swing. It was pretty depressing especially since I had almost 30 people at the shower and most were already parents. I had to take a lot of clothes back to the store, and I could only return things from people who provided a gift reciept, which wasn't very many. I had to take the unnecessary stuff back to get the stuff I really needed. I wish that I had the shower sooner because now my husband and I are stuck purchasing all those extra and quite expensive items on our own and we don't have very much time to do it in. If I had known no one would go off the registry I wouldn't have bothered making one and I would have started purchasing things like bottles, burb clothes, towels, crib sheets, a bouncer, a swing, things like that all in advance. When I was purchasing stuff on a weekly basis, people kept telling me to stop buying things because "You'll get all this stuff at the shower" Well don't listen to that and start purchasing stuff now. If you see baby shampoo, or baby powder on sale, pick it up. If you see stuff like infant Tylenol, or Milicon drops (Gas drops) pick it up. Basically start shopping now like you already have the baby. Obviously you don't know what the sex of the baby is yet, so I would just purchase things in nuetral colors. Diapers, Wipes, bottles, anything you happen to notice that maybe on sale or "cute" pick it up. You don't want to be in your last few weeks of pregnancy and still rushing to get everything you need. OHHHH.... Sleeping in your third trimester is a b*tch!!! You wake up all the time, you cna't get comfortable, your back hurts or your neck hurts or you have to pee. Invest in a nice body pillow or one of those maternity pillows. Trust me you will be grateful you have one once you get a sizeable abdomin and can't move very well and nothing you do makes you any bit comfortable. Good Luck and Congratulaitons:)

Well first of all......you dont throw yourself a shower, a friend or family member needs to offer. And generally you dont have the shower until your 8th month or around there. You dont want to be greedy and just expect ppl to buy things for you...totally rude. I understand being excited tho,, im haveing mine next weekend thrown by a friend...and im 33 weeks along.

when ever you want. Some people don't have them till after the baby is born. What would I suggest is take your girls/family out for breakfast or something and telling them the good news when your ready. There are many who wait to do till after the 1st trimester for fear of what to say if they lose the baby. It's all up to you dear.

Anyone can throw you a shower whenever you like. I read somewhere that it is bad etiquette for your mom to throw you a shower but, that seems kind of silly. Personally, i wanted to know the sex of the baby before having a shower. Good luck!

wait until you're about 6-7 months along. that way you'll be able to have everyone buy gifts according to your baby's sex, and once the shower is over, you'll still have plenty of time to buy everything else you will need that wasn't given to you. congrats and good luck!

Congratulations! I had my baby shower exactly one month before my twins were due. I think that is a ery normal time frame.
