Because if we stated that we had thought of a plausible meaning of life, then the ever so philosophical philosophers would be left out of a job, become destitute and die, hinting that the philisophers already know the meaning of life (i.e. we're all gonna die, so lets try and postpone the inevitable and make the most of life by trying to pretend to think about it and discovering other things about life we didn't really want to know anyway, but sound good), but don't want to tell anyone because of the previously stated reason.

b. let the bible tell you
c. find your true love
d. have as much fun as possible
e. try to become rich so you can live the high life

We do kow the meanign of life. God is full of knowledge, and we are a tiny part of God, o that knowledge of the meaning of life is already present within our soul .
To live a life based on Truth, we must be simple. Krishna consciousness , or God realization, is very easy for those who are simple, and very difficult for those who are crooked.
We try to continusouly break out of the messages that are consciousness is tryign to tell us because we have free will, to shoose to serve the Lord, aor reject Him. We have been conditioned by the rebellious mentality since time immemorial.
When we are sick and tired of being sick and tired, we will change, and we will finally surrender unto Krishna, God.
