Great question. How about the philosophy of Jesus Christ on the subject of love? Look at the Gospel of John 15.12 "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you" or 15.13 "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends" . There is much more on this subject from this lover of our souls. St Paul is also good reading on the subject of love. He devotes an entire chapter in his first letter to the Corinthians to the subject. Consider 1 Cor 13 and words such as "love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy". This chapter by the way is very often used in wedding ceremonies as part of a pastor or priests homily as words of encouragement to the new couple.
