You know it really angers me at the number of teens that are intentionally trying to get pregnant by either tricking a guy into it, or just being selfish and thinking a baby would be fun and not thinking of how much of a responsibility it is to raise a child. I mean look at all of the couples who would love to have a child and then you see all of these irresponsible young teen-aged and even pre teen-aged girls getting pregnant because of entrapment or negligence. This really disturbs me because I don't think that people who are having kids for all the wrong reasons should be blessed like they are and the people who do deserve a child can't have one. Ugh this really does annoy the hell out of me

GOODNESS READ THE QUESTION PROPERLY PEOPLE NO WHERE IN THERE AM I ATTACKING THE MOTHERS WHO CAN PROVIDE FOR THEIR CHILDREN. THIS WAS ABOUT YOUNG GIRLS WHO WERE GETTING PREGNANT TO TRAP A GUY OR WHAT NOT. NOT THE ONES THAT PLANNED TO HAVE A BABY AND COULD PROVIDE FOR THEM. READ THE QUESTION AND IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND IT MIGHT I ADD PLEASE DON'T ANSWER.

AGAIN THIS IS NOT AN ATTACK ON YOUNG MOTHERS WHO ARE DOING EVERYTHING THEY CAN TO PROVIDE FOR THEIR KIDS AND ARE DOING A GREAT JOB RAISING THEIR KIDS. I WAS ALSO A TEEN MOM AND KNOW WHAT IT IS LIKE TO GET JUDGED I WAS READY FOR A BABY MARRIED AND WAS FINANCIALLY MORE STABLE THAN MOST OLDER WOMEN.

I totally feel where you are coming from on this, it really bothers me too when these girls are so quick to spread their legs to create a baby when they themselves are just babies. I commend the mothers that did get pregnant by accident and are wonderful mothers who provide for their kid(s). But what really turns my stomach is when my husbands tax dollars go to those who got pregnant to try to trap a guy and it backfired in their face and now they are living off of the government, if you ask me I think the government makes it far too easy for some of these girls to just go out and get pregnant. I was a teen aged mother but was also ready to have a child in every aspect. My fiance' makes more than enough money for his family where I don't even have to work he wants me to be a stay at home mother which I love. I commend all those girls who are doing this on their own or with the father by there sides and are doing the best they can. And to the ones who are so young and think getting pregnant will be fun or just be something you can dress up and play with why don't you take a look at how much everything is going to cost and pretty much times that by 18 years to get a rough estimate of how much you are going to need.

well when i got pregnant i was 18 a senior in high school and was with the guy i lost my virginity to, We were wanting a child engaged to be married you know the whole 9 yards and it upsets me to hear you say this. Its no ones fault if you cannot have a child so dont get mad because others can. Even if they are young teens can be great parents, i have a 2 year old son and i take care of him by myself, you say its the teens.....My sons father is 25 years old and does nothing for him! Dont sit here and say that its all on the young teens and pre teens i have seen 30 year old Crack Who*es that are horrible mothers. I am a great mother i support my child and take care of him on my own with no government assistance so how dare you say anything about the type of person or the way they are just because of their age, I have a friend that is 19 has a 19 month old and a 4 month old and he is doing great with the both of them on her own! Age isnt anything but a number it has to do with the type of person they are their family and the way they were raised!

I know a girl who did get preg at 16 so that she could get married and move out from her parents home. She went onto to have one more baby before things fell apart with her husband and now she leaves the kids with her mom so she can go out and party. There's really no way to keep kids from doing this because at that age they think they know everything. Not much you can do about it.

But, on the bright side, teen pregnancy rates are dropping nation wide according to the latest study. Whether or not we find it disturbing does not and will not prevent it from happening. It's sad if teen pregnancies lead to an unfinished education or a less fortunate life for the mother and child.

No. I don't find it disturbing because I'm 19 and I have a son--who was planned.

You may think you know everything when you look at young mothers but you don't. I'm sorry if you cannot conceive--I really am but don't take that out on young mothers.

I have a college education AND I’m certified in phlebotomy. I have traveled the globe and I have LOVED my life so far. I’m very fortunate to have all of my eggs in a basket.

I am an extremely responsible stay at home mother of not only my own child but my cousin who has been in my care for the past 2 years. Do we have any kind of government assistance? No. Do we have any kind of help from our parents? No, they live thousands of miles away.

I am a typical suburban mother [despite my age] who is just living happily with her husband and children. I live a happy life just like any other aged mother or family. Did I do it to trap my husband? NO! WE did it to have children. WE did it because WE loved my cousin so much that we wanted to start our own family.

Do you know what it feels like when you know you are doing the best you can but then someone comes up to you [that you don't even know] asks you why you are a whore? I bet not. I do, because when my husband was serving in Iraq a woman came up to me and asked while I was out grocery shopping with my cousin. To her surprise I didn't whip out food stamps. I didn't whip out my WIC check. What's funny is many middle aged mothers DO use WIC and Food Stamps. It's not just young mothers.

Next time you see a young mother, don't jump to conclusions on what her life is like because you're obviously ignorant enough to have NO idea.

--ANOTHER THING--I moved out when I graduated at sixteen years old. I was legally emancipated from my parents. That's when I got my college education. That's when I moved in with my boyfriend. [later on husband] Was it negligence on my parents part? I think not because I was legally an adult! My parents were awesome parents and also very strict but their rule was the minute we graduated high school we were adults in their eyes. The only reason why I was emancipated in because I previously lived in Germany where I met my husband [who then moved to NM] so I legally had to be emancipated in order to provide for myself.

I think you should restate your question because I'm 19 and about to have my first child. It was not a planed pregnancy but I'm married to the man of my dreams,i live in a nice house, and have everything ready for my baby. And yes we are financially ready. So maybe not all teen moms are selfish.Because i know every day that I'm going to be blessed with my son and i can't wait for him to be here. And i know that i will be as good or better then older parents.Like my mother-In law said why wait you don't know if you are going to die tomorrow. So in joy life that's what I'm doing.

ME TOO!!!
I am one also that is trying to have a baby.
It ticks me off when I turn on the TV and all I see is babies having babies and mothers killing their babies!!
What the hell is this world coming to?!
Yesterday I read about a girl that had a 11 yr old friend that was about to be due in 3 days and the mother of that girl still didn't know!!
HERE ON THIS SITE!!!
When I was their age.... I didn't even know what a dick was!!!
I was into playing with toys and getting into trouble... But hell... not that kind of trouble!!!
I think that the parents of girls like that need to have 24-7 supervision on them!!
Put their asses in boot camp or something!!!
They can't wipe their own butts right and they think that their old enough to spread their legs and pop kids out and not think of the responsibility and all the care that a little one needs!!!
Someone REALLY... REALLY... needs to do something about this!! Not just slap them on the hands and say "NO.. NO... "
It really is a shame that us grown-ups that are wanting to have a baby, can't... When those that don't even deserve to have one have 10 of them!!!
But yes... your right and I don't think that we are the only ones that think the same.
But there are those that don't care and they are probably the ones that have daughters that are under age and having babies!!

I agree with you 100%. Everytime my dad see that situation he sayd Babys having babies! It hurts to see the children suffer because of the ignorance of the girls and their parents! You see these girls that are 13-16 that dress like they are 21 and act like it! My mother never let me do that kind of stuff!

I think you're being a bit harsh. Remember - they are children themselves! Just because their body is capable of having a baby, doesn't mean that they themselves are mature enough to have a baby.
You have to ask yourself why these children are so lacking in love/ambition/attention that they deliberately fall pregnant. Our society glamorises sex and having sex is a "grownup" thing to do. To get this right, our society needs to change. We have to put our kids first, teach them well, educate them, not only in sex education, but in life skills. We owe them.
Remember: they're children, too immature to make these decisions. Have some understanding.

No, it doesn't disturb me. In fact, I often read the teen pregnancy questions here on YA!, it provides me with a lot of entertainment, and information too.
