My husband may be posted there soon, for one to two years; I and our family will follow soon after, if he goes. Here's what I've found in looking things up for our own use:

Business: inexpensive land and building costs; skilled but inexpensive labor; good allies with Britain, US and Germany; good railways and sea port systems; close to Germany---which is Poland's biggest trading partner; central to many other large countries with whom European and overseas businesses do regular business

Families: those from outside Poland usually follow the businesses and trade or go there for their own business opportunities catering to other visitors at ski resorts or city bars, museums, hotels, restaurants, etc

Visitors: depends on area visited; those who go to Krakow often end up touring Auschwitz or the old Jewish Quarter, or go see where Schindler's List was (in part) filmed; many go on to the salt mines, to see the old wooden villas and churches, the ski/mountain climbing areas or to Warsaw; many from the US and other parts of Europe will go visit parts of Poland their ancestors were from a hundred years ago; US army vets go to see where they liberated persons from camps, young people from across Europe go for the bar and party scene, because it's cheap and reasonably safe there; etc. The types of tourism described above fall into a type of travel called niche tourism.

Found this at a government website about tourism in the state of Maine

Some common types of niche tourism are:

Cultural Heritage
Forest Heritage
Agritourism
Ecotourism
Adventure Tourism

I think some people are just stupid and, for some reason, have the need to fit into a fad. I have no clue how the emo world got so popular among miserable teenagers, but it's a fad and going to be gone in less than 7 years. (guessing of course) @->-->-
