both coast have barrier islands that have the real beaches... short span bridges take you form mainland to island where beaches are.... there are places that have beach like areas on the mainland but there will be an island i your view..... an option is Tampa Bay.... you can get to by taking I-4 to Tampa.... follow I-275 South to the Clearwater Hwy 60 exit.... there will be beaches along the causeway and bridge that takes you from Tampa to Clearwater and you never actually have to get on a bridge if you turn just past Castaway Restuarant.

If you can do short span bridges.... less then 1/4 mile... Head to Atlantic for waves and colder water.... to the Gulf of Mexico for Warm water and little to no waves.

The Atlantic Ocean is hidden from the mainland by the Intercoastal Waterway and barrier islands. To get to it, you have to cross low short span bridges. To get to the Gulf, take Interstate 4 to Exit 7, then Rt 41/92 west. When 41 turns north, continue straight to Route 580 to Pinellas Co. and Rt 584 to 586 to the shore. Then go up or down US Alt 19 along the shoreline.

Kissimmee is inland, so you'll want to head either east to Cocoa Beach or south east to the gulf beaches like Siesta Key in Sarasota or Clearwater Beach. The only beach that has a bridge to drive over is at Clearwater and Cocoa and its just a little one that goes overthe marina. Literally, you're over it in 2 minutes. Cocoa Beach's is a little bit longer - maybe 5 minutes long, but no biggie.
You won't find intercoastal highways unless you head north to St. George Island (up by the pan handle) or way south the Florida Keys. So not to worry! :)

Go to Cocoa Beach its beautiful. There is one bridge but it's not to bad. I think it's called Banana Bridge. But if you close your eyes for a few minutes you will be fine. I've been to Cocoa Beach and Clearwater. And we loved Cocoa Beach hands down. Clearwater there is a bridge about 10 miles long if not longer you have to cross to get to it. Have a great time. And check out Cocoa Beach.
