Well, let's see, China is our enemy, they have a very big build up of the military machine and want to conquer all of Asia, want to be a big boy in the weapons dealer market and supply terrorists with weapons. Want to test more nukes, and virtually have been caught shipping arms to this country illegally as well as trying to steal sensitive documents. Hmmmm. NO NO NO Clinton screwed up big time and now China has given that same knowledge to N. Korea and Iran. In some ways he was worse than Carter as president, or just as bad. By the way, he is an Ex- president now. He does NOT still hold that office. The person above is extremely mistaken. Once you are out of office, you are NOT president anymore. As far as time will tell, Are you asleep? Time has already told. Pay attention to what they have done in the past and also do now. What Reagan did was minimal. He never sold a guidance system for an ICBM to launch nukes with pin point accuracy. HELLO. wake up people. You are so worried about slamming the Rep party that you lose sight with reality of our enemies and enemies to the planet. The Chinese are the ones who thought it was a good idea to come up with the cobalt bomb. It would have been a really big bang. Nixon got them to get rid of the idea. It would have been the equivalent of 200 megaton bomb. Think!!!

China tested its first nuclear weapon in 1964. China was the first Asian nation to have developed and tested a nuclear weapon. They had been developing since the 50s. I'm not "getting" the Clinton connection. Also, trade relations were first opened by Richard Nixon.

His name is still President Clinton. Kind of like the Marines. Once a President, always a President.

Sorry.

As to your question, the technology is troubling, but the MFN status doesn't mean much except that there are lower tariffs, etc. on trade. And since China is a HUGE trade partner, it could be considered okay (Yes, I know China's history of human rights violations).

A great big healthy NO! to both questions.

Giving nuclear technology to a communist nation is like handing your enemy a loaded gun.

As for "most favored nation" status, China has one of the worst human rights record of any nation in the world.

Slick Willy was out of his mind. But what else is new?

I think it was just as stupid as Bush giving India nuclear and missle technology to India and Pakistan.

I guess time will tell, meanwhile in the here and now, I believe it was 'incorrect' for Reagan to give terrorists weapons, and fund their training camps, as it has come back to haunt us. As far as china, well we owe them quite a bit of money thanks to this war. And money is much more powerful than weapons . It is how Reagan ended the cold war.
