It has affected my life by making the men I meet afraid to open doors and pull out chairs for me, or to otherwise treat me with any form of respect. It has affected my life by making me have to defend my career as a stay-at-home breastfeeding mother, a job which was once considered one of the most important professions a woman could have but is now looked down upon; it is no longer of any value as long as I am not bringing in money. Because of the women's movement, I have to teach my children (against now-common belief) that a woman has value in her intrinsic qualities, her God-given talent as a mother, as a nurturer, and as a primary and superior food source for her babies.

Not first hand when it took place but what it did has changed many women's lives. For instance many women hold jobs in what used to be male dominated areas - financial institutions, law, health care, etc. It has paved the way for women to get their own jobs and get out of the house. It has also allowed men things like taking time off work to raise the kids while the women go to work...this has changed immensily since the women's movement...before women were bred to have children and raise them.

Good luck
