'To postulate' - to advance the proposition that....., to argue that....., hopefully with evidence in support.

So to postulate that 'x' will increase the amount of evil in the world, is to suggest that 'x' per se is evil. or that doing 'x' is evil and that permitting it, it is to be done will increase the evil in the world. It's pretty tenuous as it is incapable of being proved, and anyway how do you measure the amount of evil in the world?
