and this is a rule, that means there are rules that have no exceptions. Does that make this rule always true or never true? Or am I way off base? Explain.

This is a great question, but, unfortunately, not a paradox.
I. This Rule is True.
II. There is an exception to every rule.
III. There is an exception to this rule.
IV. The exception to this rule is that there is one rule that has no exception.
V. This rule has no exceptions, therefore, it is its own exception to its own rule.

By being true, this statement creates the false paradox that every rule has an exception. However, if this rule was never stated, there would be no exceptions. This rule, inofitself, is its own exception. Had this statement not been said, the world would keep turning and there would be an unsaid exception to each rule. However, because it was said, it contradicted itself in such a way that it ratified its own truth! A self-creating rule! Good job!

well to be honest you answered your own question when you called it a "statement". A rule is something that people have passed judgement on and are in agreement to in some type of voting structure.

so the statement "There is an exception to every rule" is not a rule...but rather a statement concerning rules thus it can still be considered a true assessment of rule breaking.

the exception to this rule would be that there is no exception to the rule, which makes the rule true. Wouldn't it be like that?

Ok I wil say it like this . There are 2 men standing at a lake in a park where they are not to fish . The park is closed so nither men are to be there . 1 man is fishing and the other is just watching , so the park Ranger comes up to them . Hgives thw 1 man a ticket and takes his poles , and the other is still standing there , so he doesnt do anything to him but tell him to leave , a warning , so 1 got worse than the other but both were there .
