It is no longer tolerable to speak your mind if it may in any way shape or form offend someone. ( I use the term offend very loosely because some people are offended by beliefs that are just not their own... ie. "under god" on your money )

here is a country that was formed on basic rights, you have people ( be it minorities, women, the whole united populace. that claim everyday they want equality, fairness, same privileges, similar treatment.
BUT if you treat these groups equally, with similar privileges, with similar treatment, you will no doubt be hit in the face with claims of racism, or unfair practices, yada yada

what I am talking about is around you everyday if you look... people suing to have "under god" removed from money, or the pledge...

What I am talking about is Kramer

What I am talking about are Kramers Hecklers..

What I am talking about is College Entrance App's giving points for Minorites or for women

These types of situations are fine when they favorably help the "underdog" but put them on a EQUAL playing field ( which is what everyone seems to so desperately desire ) and now it is no longer fair...

you are right.
this country is mired in a PC swamp that is hard to get out of. but if we are going to turn it around and stop being in a place where 'words hurt', we must speak the truth about a situation and not be afraid to offend.

i know some will argue about 'hate speech'.
words are just words, and you give them power when your sensibilities are easily offended. as long as someone does not put their hands on me...say what the h*** you want. i know i am not reduced to these words they use to try to hurt me.

You're free to say virtually anything you want. If you choose to exercise that right by using words that make you look like a bigot, that's your choice. If you want to stand up and shout that "under god" deserves to be on the dollar bill so be it. No one is stopping you. It doesn't mean that everyone agrees with you. Are you complaining that you lost your right to say what you want or are you saying you want everyone to agree with you?

The difficulty is that as you exercise your freedom of spech (sic), you may say something that offends someone else, who exercises his or her freedom of speech to voice his or her objection.

"Freedom of Speech" does not mean that you will be able to say whatever you choose without some consequences.

Say what you will and others will say what they will. That, my friend is freedom of speech.
