I do not think that any body would be jealous about Singapore, a country/city which is thoroughly boring. Population of Singapore consists of 77% chinese, 15% malaysians, 7% indians (99% are from Tamilnadu state) and 1% rest. So one can easily understand that Singapore is nothing but a small China. So if one knows about chinese way of living and culture, he can understand what I am referring to.

Huh? Are you a Singaporean? I thought you were taught better English than that.
Is it your big head that construes it as jealousy and not simple contempt for a people that think so highly of themselves?
Of all of the countries I've traveled too, Singapore had the biggest facade of wealth I've ever seen. It is small and overpriced with anal retentive laws and while I personally do enjoy going there, I find it hard to recommend to others to visit, money is better spent elsewhere.
I liken most of Singapore to a phenomena I see quite often here in the states. You see someone driving a merc and think "wow, he must be doing well", what you don't see is that he drives it back to his 1 bedroom apt and can barely put food on the table, but he sure looks well off to the public eye.
I think Lotus Love hit the nail on the head though.

Singapore is the most over-rated country in the South East Asia
1) Small, crowded and overly populated nation
2) Lack of natural resources like water, green, land, beaches, flora and fauna.
3) Too dependent on foreigners/multinational companies to sustain local economy.
4) Mentality- lack of spirituality, profit- driven society and 'kiasu' attitude.
5)Identity crisis- trying hard to be western and modern
6)Sterile- Too many laws, restrictions and very schematic.
7)Costly - high yet poor standard of living i.e small pigeon-hole- type flat or condo.
