in 2 days time i will have gone 12 months without a period ( i am 51 ) can i safely say thank god its all over ?

I was the same as Shari only I had bloods checked and had an early menopause at 37 and was put on HRT for the past 3yrs I have had a normal period and then about 3 months ago just a gush while in the loo, I am 49 on Saturday so yes I would think you have it over you only do get a blood test and that will let you know for definite

After a year without a period it's considered to be full blown menopause. That doesn't mean that you won't ever have a period again. But the good news is that it is the beginning of the end.

Yes, that is the definition of reaching menopause. 12 months without a period. Continue to see your dr. for checkups though.

Hooray!!!!!!!! Your free from mentrual periods so you should celebrate. One year means that you have reached menopause and will never get your period again and that is normal for a 51 yr old woman. Sooooooooo get all those pads & tampax and throw them away for a big celebration!

Possibly. But don't be surprised if a month, or 2 or 6 months from now you have a spotting day or even a full-on period.

For some women it can be as abrupt as you describe; for others it can drag on for years.

I think so! Lucky you! I'm 41 and have really messed up ones now. Like go for a month or two and nothing and then it's niagra falls! So yeah, ya better start thankin! (And throw out the pills! LOL!)

You can say yes for yourself but the medical advice is that you have to go 2 years before you can say yes that's it.

Sounds like it, but dont count your chickens yet.Stranger things have happened and you could still have the odd one or two periods yet.For your sake i hope it is the end tho! :)
