UK Question - Where can I get Funding from?

Question

I am going on a trip to Sweden with Hertfordshire Guides and I need to raise the money. Are there any companies or charities (other than the Rotary Club) that offer grants for this sort of thing?

I come from central hertfordshire and am 24 years old.

I am a full time student - as as volunteers we ought to be able to fund without being out of pocket.

Have you tried organising some of your own fundraisers ?

e.g. Bag packing at a local supermarket, sponsored silence, raffle at your division agm, etc.?

I am sure if you contact your district / division commissioners, that they will be able to give you some ideas of what you can do.

Well the Guides are surely a willing force of enthusiastic child workers who can make saleable goods like cakes, book marks and anything else that is fun to make. These things can be sold to parents, friends and nice old folks for a small profit on each item. This raises money and gives the Guides a fun day making things.
Also try the Masons and the Round Table Club - these organisations give a lot more to good causes than you might think.

I think if you are 24 you ought to be able to pay for your own trips. Why not:

1) Take a part time job
2) Sell stuff on ebay
3) Have a car boot sale

Leave the charity to those that really need it.

sorry i don't know anywhere you could get the money from...i am not from anywhere near there
however, the only thing i could think of is people donating moneyor sponsering you
