Sometimes I notice that on my clothes there are what looks to be like wet spots, but they're dry. I can't get these stains out. What are they and how do I get rid of them?

I have tried everything that everyone has already suggested. On the spots that I have, they are NOT there when I put them in the washer and I cannot see them when I put them in the dryer. Once the clothing is dry and I have noticed them I can't get them out no matter what. I believe that my problem is something either in my washer or dryer. What a pain, especially if it's new clothing! I found that turning everything inside out when I wash it sometimes seems to help. Also a pain, though!

Sounds like a grease or oily spot. Easiest way to pretreat is to use a liquid dish detergent (Dawn is the best). Just before you wash them, pour some onto the spot and scrub it in a lil bit and toss them in the wash. If you want to mark the spot where it was, put a safety pin there so you can easily look for the spot after you are done washing/drying.

They might be grease stains, like from food. If I'm cooking bacon for example, and it splatters on my shirt, it has that look like it's "wet" and it's very hard to get out! Usually, I put some spray and wash on it if I notice right away and it comes out after a couple of washes. Otherwise, you might be stuck with the stains. Good luck!

It does sound like oil or grease spots. If that is what they are you can try to treat them and wash again but usually they get set in during the drying cycle.

Possibly degradation of the dye. If you use harsh washing powders then its likely this causes fading or mottling of the dye. If you don't mind dying the fabrics again that would work. It's worthwhile using colour care wash powder/tablets. But if you can't get the stains out that is probably something to do with the dye.

sound´s like you been doing lot´s of cooking , oil splatter´s that´s the most likely thing it could be , Let´s hope you have´t put them in the dryer, try some natural clothes soap, wet the area then rub in soap leave over night then straight to a normal wash

Could be oil or grease stains. if you have dried them in the dryer already you can not get them out. If you have not dryed them yet you could use a spot remover

Sometimes fabric softener dryer sheets will leave spots on dark clothes, but they are supposed to wash out.

Sometimes this is due to detergent not getting washed out. Do an extra rinse cycle to solve this problem.

I know that when I leave chapstick in my jeans and run them through the dryer the chapstick will melt on them making them look that way.
